Biography
Carlos is an architect, urban designer, and master planner with more than 40 years of experience shaping projects and cities around the world. As Gensler's Global Cities Sector Leader, Principal, and Design Director, he brings a holistic approach to architecture, urban design, and master planning, with expertise in mixed-use development.
Carlos envisions a regenerative future in which architecture, nature, culture, and community work as interconnected systems, creating places that evolve responsibly and thrive over time. Blurring the boundaries between architecture and place, he seeks to elevate the human experience, decarbonize the built environment, strengthen the connections among how people live, work, and gather, and foster greater social and urban vitality. His international portfolio spans Russia, Mexico, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, China, Malaysia, and Singapore, encompassing large-scale site planning, residential communities, resorts, workplaces, and institutional buildings.
Cities are where people connect, where communities are shaped, and where social, economic, and intellectual capital is formed. As planners and problem solvers, it is our duty to move toward future-forward, regenerative ecosystems. At Gensler, we design places that improve human life through flexible, adaptive, and responsive strategies for urbanization.
